History

The spirit of optimism at the beginning of the 1990s led to a veritable wave of new business start-ups in Eastern Europe. The opportunities offered by the free market economy had a tremendous impact on people. In this positive, optimistic environment, also MicroStep was founded in Slovakia in the 1990s by lecturers and employees of the Slovak University of Technology.

Today, MicroStep is a company that is writing a global success story: The manufacturer offers high-end system solutions for all four key cutting technologies in metal processing (plasma, laser, waterjet, oxyfuel) in both 2D and 3D.

1991

Foundation of MicroStep, spol. s r.o. by 10 employees of the Department of Control  and  Automation, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava.

The initial company goal: To develop and deliver microprocessor-based control technology to various industrial sectors.

1992

Development, production and delivery of the first control system for a plasma cutting machine. Also in the company's focus: The development and production of control systems for other tool machines, hydropower plants, self-learning robots and watergate systems.

1996

Concentration of the business with CNC cutting systems in a specially designed department of the company. Beginning of a long-term partnership with the Slovak engineering company IQM s.r.o. and subsequently development of own mechanics and a complex control system for CNC cutting machines.

1999

Foundation of the subsidiary MicroStep Europa GmbH for the sales and service of cutting systems in the German speaking region (DACH countries).
 

2007

Foundation of the subsidiary MicroStep Photonics GmbH specialized in the further development of MicroStep laser technology.
 

2010

Merging of the companies MicroStep, spol. s r.o. and IQM, s.r.o. into MicroStep spol. s r.o.

 

2015

Opening of the new MicroStep Europa headquarters and the new MicroStep CompetenceCenter South in Germany (Bad Wörishofen, Bavaria), where the latest MicroStep technology can be experienced live.
 

2016

Opening of the new MicroStep Europa branch office and the new CompetenceCenter North in Germany (Dorsten, NRW), where the latest MicroStep solutions can be demonstrated live.
 

2019

Expansion of the production site in Hrinová: Completion of a new assembly hall with 1,500 square metres.
Expansion of the production site in Partizánske: Installation and implementation of the new machining centre for milling and drilling.
 

2020

Groundbreaking for the new MicroStep Europa branch complex, consisting of an office building and showroom, in Germany (Dorsen, NRW) with more than 1,300 square metres.

 

2021

Opening of the new MicroStep Europa branch complex including the CompetenceCenter North in Germany (Dorsten, NRW), which is the contact point for specialist dealers, customers and potential customers in the north of Germany and where a wide range of the latest cutting technologies is permanently available for demonstration purposes.

 

2023

Opening of the new CompetenceCenter South in Germany (Messerschmittstraße 3, 86825 Bad Wörishofen) including a showroom with 1,350 m², a logistics center with 1,500 m² storage space and offices with 800 m². Just a few steps away from the company headquarters, the technology and logistics center, including an Industrie 4.0 demo factory, is the point of contact for specialist dealers, customers and interested parties in southern Germany. Here, visitors can experience a wide range of cutting technologies (plasma, laser, oxyfuel, waterjet), deburring and bending technology as well as automation solutions live in action under one roof.
