After 10 years of abstinence, the fair in Essen was again the venue for Schweissen & Schneiden

Schweissen & Schneiden is back home: For five days, the modernized Messe Essen was the international showplace for the experts in joining, cutting and coating technology. MicroStep presented innovative solutions from the fields of cutting, automation and digitalization and draws a positive conclusion of the world's leading trade fair.
"A unique trade fair week lies behind us. In sports, one would speak of a strong comeback of the Champions League. These were intensive days with highly interested visitors and a great exchange among innovative technology companies," says Johannes Ried, Managing Director of MicroStep Europa GmbH, about the Schweissen & Schneiden that has just ended and after ten years returned to its usual location at Messe Essen. At the largest booth in the company's history at a Schweissen & Schneiden, MicroStep used the five days to present the unique flexibility and diversity of its high-end solutions and, in keeping with the trade fair slogan "Get connected – get digital", to bring today's digital opportunities and options to life. "Our concept of showing the most diverse cutting solutions and thus the strengths of the various cutting processes was well received: Everyone from the company owner to the production manager was enthusiastic," says Ried.
Whether trade audience, press or video medium – MicroStep's versatile solutions met with great interest at Schweissen & Schneiden 2023
Different solutions in live operation and other eye-catchers
Visitors were able to experience live how sheet metal, tubes, profiles and domes are flexibly cut and processed with state-of-the-art 2D and 3D cutting solutions. At the MicroStep Europa GmbH booth, for example, the multifunctional all-rounder MG with 3D plasma rotator and a new milling solution were in operation. The revised 3D waterjet cutting system WaterCut also attracted great interest, as did the space-saving 2D laser MSF Compact with DynaFly technology for extra-fast, high-quality cutting. Eye-catchers that could not be overlooked were: on the one hand, an object on display that had been cut, milled and drilled with the DRM Max, and on the other hand, a dished end with a diameter of 2,000 mm and different bevel geometries, holes and free contours that had been processed on a DRM.
Experience islands for targeted consulting
Focused on the key topics of digitalization and Industrie 4.0, MicroStep presented the CyberFab Manager. The CAPP software suite offers a portal for the entire production management. Production can be managed and tracked here under one roof - including cutting, bending, deburring, welding and logistics between different workstations. With further themes and exhibits, unique experience islands were created in their entirety, where targeted consulting was provided to the German-speaking as well as the international trade audience in an intensive and technology-independent way.
Smart laser at the IndustryFusion Foundation booth
A smart laser from MicroStep Europa at the neighboring booth of the IndustryFusion Foundation played an important role in the topics of cutting performance, digitalization and completion of the technology offering. MicroStep Europa is a member of the foundation, which acted as a trade fair partner, is a cooperation partner of the German Welding Society "DVS" (= Deutscher Verband für Schweißen und verwandte Verfahren e. V.) and, together with strong partners – such as Intel, SUSE, Dell or IONOS – is driving forward the networking of European industry on the way to the smart factory in the sense of Industrie 4.0. Accordingly, the high-performance fiber laser cutting system MSE SmartFL was presented, which is already equipped today for the manufacturing of tomorrow.
"A unique trade show week lies behind us. Our concept of showing the most diverse cutting solutions and thus the strengths of the different cutting processes was well received: From the company owner to the production manager, everyone was enthusiastic!"
